Stories and News About Northern Ireland
Agnes Scott College Travels to Northern Ireland
Generations of Agnes Scott College students have traveled to Northern Ireland to learn about peacebuilding in a post-conflict society and so much more. This blog captures some of their experiences, collects interesting stories and news, connects to literature and film that tell the story of this part of the world, and celebrates the people who live there, past and present.

I’ve been addicted to Ireland, north and south, for many years and have visited there more times than I can count. I have taught Irish literature, film, culture, and history and have led over a dozen student and adult trips around the island. Most recently, I’ve been bringing first-year Agnes Scott students to Northern Ireland to meet and learn from people who lived through The Troubles–a period of civil strife from about 1968 to 1998 when the Belfast Peace Agreement was signed–and who have since 1998 built and maintained the peace. In addition to studying this traumatic history, we experience the rich culture of Northern Ireland, studying it literature, languages, art, film, and music.
